When we started Bambu Maternity in late 2017 we always had in mind doing something ongoing for the community. Thanks to the great support we have received from you we have been able to donate over $10,000 worth of Bambu Maternity clothing to women in need.
On Thursday the 25th of January 2018 we had the privilege of meeting Kate Glode (Fundraiser & Board Secretary) and Susie Greig-Rouffignac (Philanthropy Manager) at the Royal Women’s Hospital Foundation (“The Foundation”). The Foundation raises much needed funds to support the vital work of the Royal Women’s Hospital, Australia’s first and largest specialist hospital dedicated to improving the health of women of all ages and newborn babies.
The lovely ladies at The Foundation showed us around the hospital including the wonderful Women’s Welcome Centre, the very special Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the vast walls that share the photos and stories of those who contribute to the hospital.
It was such a lovely and eye-opening experience. The Women’s is such a warm and welcome place where many may spend a very short amount of time and some cases over a year for quality care. The hospital prides itself on being inclusive and providing the best healthcare to all women no matter what background or circumstance.
As part of Bambu Maternity’s quest to contribute to the community we personally packed and delivered 50 clothing packs for women who enter the hospital to give-birth and may not have access to or the luxury of maternity clothing. These women may have experienced homelessness, sexual assault, domestic violence, mental illness or suffering a medical emergency. These packs included a top which can be used for nursing, a cardie and leggings.
We were so excited to be able give to The Foundation and look forward to sharing women’s stories and making further contributions to The Foundation in the future.
Bambu Maternity will be holding an exhibit at this years Pregnancy & Newborns Expo in Melbourne Australia on the 24th & 25th of February 2018. This February 2018 you will not only be able to meet us in person, see our beautiful range of maternity clothing but also make much needed donations to the Royal Women’s Hospital Foundation.
We can wait to see you all!
If you can’t make it, please consider visiting the Royal Women’s Hospital DONATE page and making a much-needed donation to enable the hospital to continue to help women in need.
